For most of us, teenagers are so hard to buy for. Add in the Christian aspect, and it makes it harder to find something of quality, something that will not make the poor little Christian cringe (read: WWJD bracelets…) Don't worry, I've done the work for you! Here are the top ten ideas to get you started.

General Stuff for Guys and Girls

1. Music – If there's anything that teens love, it's tunes. Some uplifting titles I recommend:
For girls: Jennifer Knapp – Live (as cheap as $6.98 online), Nichole Nordeman – Live at the Door (as low as 7.99)
For guys: Sinai Beach – Wolves in Sheep's Clothing (as low as 6.99), Toby Mac – Re:Mix Momentum (7.99)
TIP: Make sure you know what kind of music your teen likes before you go picking willy-nilly!

2. T-Shirts – They've come a long way from just a Jesus fish or WWJD. Pop culture is alive and well in Christian clothing.
Check out Ezekiel shirts for guys, and Not of This World (NOTW) shirts for guys and girls. You can find many cool options for under twenty bucks. They are a statement not only of fashion, but of faith.

3. DVDs – Christian music DVDs as well as quality Christian films are making their way into stores. You can still find titles for under twenty dollars. Try: The Passion of the Christ and The Chronicles of Narnia (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) for film selections, and Kutless DVD or Stacie Orrico Live in Japan for music selections. High quality, low price.

For the Hipsters
The few, the proud, the hopelessly hip. Here's a few for the ultra-cool guys and gals.

4. In God I Trust wallet (12.99 from Christian Gifts by Kerusso). This baby is a sweet tri-fold wallet modelled to look like the US dollar bill, but with a more personal declaration of faith.

5. Wrist Cuffs (from 3.99, Christian Gifts by Kerusso). You can find either the fabric or the leather variety here, with crosses, crown of thorns, Trinity symbols and more. All cool, barely any cash.

For the Missions-Bound Teen
There are always a few teenagers who feel the call, or who are curious about where God is leading them in this world. Great choices for them would be:

6. Jesus Freaks (Volumes 1 and 2) – Despite the name, these books are like a 20th century version of Fox's Book of Martyrs. The stories are true, timeless, and utterly inspiring. You can find both for around $17 each.

7. The End of the Spear DVD – The classic true story Nate Saint and Jim Elliot. Christian mission and martyrdom with a Hollywood budget, this film is well-made and well-acted. It's enough to get any kid thinking.

For the College Bound
They grow up so fast, and now the older ones are getting ready to ship out to college. Keep their faith strong with a few of these selections.

8. Ignite Your Faith (formerly Campus Life) Magazine – A subscription for your 17- or 18-year-old will be an invaluable asset. This magazine has it all, from tips for college money to answers for the toughest questions.

9. Coffeemakers!! All college-bound students will soon find out how helpful a cup of java in the morning, or for cram-sessions at night, can be! I recommend the Black and Decker Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker, because not only does brew the coffee right into a handy travel mug, but it's well under twenty bucks, to boot.

And the quintessential answer to this problem…

10. The Bible – There are so many new versions and cool takes on the Word of God to choose from. They have the scriptures in magazine form, the bible as a novel, the bible in contemporary language, student bibles, study bibles, bibles for girls, bibles for guys, and the list goes on! Bibles aren't necessarily going to be your cheapest option, (although I've listed a few below) but the payoff of a teenager staying in the Word cannot be counted in dollars and cents.

Try: The Message Remix ($16.49), Archaeological Study Bible: An Illustrated Walk Through Biblical History and Culture ($32.99),The One Year Chronological Bible, NLT ($16.49)

Now, I've equipped you with ideas, go and equip the teens you know with the tools they need for faith and right living!
